We regularly update MyHR's software to make sure your people processes are streamlined and your organisation is up-to-date with industry best-practice and current employment law.
Here's a look at what we’ve been up to lately, a security tip from our HR experts, and a sneak peek at what’s on the horizon.
Forgot your password? No worries!
Most of us have many, many passwords to remember, and not everyone has access to a password manager to do the remembering for them. That’s why we’ve made forgotten password requests faster and even more secure in our latest update.
What’s changed?
If you forget your password for whatever reason, you can select the “Forgotten password?” link on your MyHR login screen, which will then prompt you to enter your email address and select the “Reset your password” button. If the system finds a user with that email address, it sends out an email with a link in it that lets just that user set a new password.
Previously, if the system wasn’t able to find a user with a matching email address, you would see a message on the screen telling you that there was no matching user, after clicking on the password reset button. While this is a secure feature, the downside from a privacy perspective is that anyone could theoretically use this form several times over with different email addresses and each time they received a message saying they’ve received a password reset email, they would know that that email has a legitimate account within MyHR.
Now, we’ve replaced this success message with a generic one that says: “If we found a matching account, we sent you an email with instructions on how to reset your password.” This means our customers’ accounts are even more secure, and there’s less risk of phishing agents getting in touch.
A tip from the HR experts
Two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a login method in which a user is allowed to access their account only after successfully proving their identity using two or more pieces of evidence (or factors), which adds an extra layer of security and keeps your account safe.
These two factors usually involve something you know (such as a password) and something you possess (such as a unique code sent to your mobile device), to protect your information.
There are some popular (and free!) 2FA apps that are compatible with MyHR and work by generating a unique code as your 2nd factor. These include 1Password, Authy, Google Authenticator (Android and iOS), and Duo Mobile.
If you haven’t already done so, our HR experts highly recommend you set up 2FA on your MyHR account, and here are some of the key reasons why:
- Enhanced security: Because two-factor authentication adds an additional step to the login process using something you have, like your mobile phone, it’s a lot more difficult for attackers to gain unauthorised access, even if they have managed to get their hands on your password.
- Protection against password attacks:Security breaches often occur because of weak or compromised passwords (we’re not pointing any fingers, but many people use the same password for everything)! With 2FA, even if an attacker manages to find out your password, they would still need the second factor to gain access, which makes it much more difficult.
- Safeguarding personal and financial information:Most people’s online accounts contain sensitive information such as personal details, financial data, or confidential documents. Enabling 2FA adds an additional barrier, reducing the risk of unauthorised access to this information. It adds an extra level of assurance that only authorised individuals can access the account.

Performance reviews are getting an upgrade
Performance reviews is one of our original and most popular MyHR features, helping businesses to attract, train, and retain great quality staff, create a high-performing team and help them to develop their skills, and facilitate constructive conversations between employers and employees.
We can’t say too much just yet, but we thought it was high time our performance reviews feature got a significant upgrade, so here’s a sneak peek of what will be happening. More flexible templates will allow customisation of content, and better formatting so individual KPIs/objectives will display in an easy-to-follow structure.
Your employees will be able to collaborate with their manager on the creation of their objectives and provide their updates throughout the review cycle rather than the admin falling on the manager.
In this update, managers and employees will also be able to see their appraisal ratings after they’re submitted, which makes prepping for the final appraisal much easier. Plus, your mobile experience will be fine-tuned to allow you and your employees the ability to access reviews whenever they need to.
