We’re excited to announce the latest update to our game-changing HR software: Digital onboarding.
Our new onboarding functionality allows you to automate onboarding and induction tasks, reducing time and hassle and ensuring new employees get all the information, materials, and guidance to succeed in their new roles.
What does this mean for employers?
A comprehensive onboarding process provides a structure for both the new employee and management and means the business can be confident every individual gets the right preparation and support to succeed in their new role.
Digital onboarding further streamlines the process, eliminating the need for paper-based plans and documentation, simplifies the completion and tracking of tasks, and ensures the employee gets a targeted, engaging experience.

How MyHR’s digital onboarding works
MyHR’s onboarding feature expands our paperless processes by automating the creation, assignment, tracking, and completion of induction tasks within the MyHR platform.
Create digital onboarding templates using one of our best-practice templates (available in the template library) or build your own set of tasks to guide the new person through the first phases of the new role.
From there you can easily link important documents and training material, e.g. your company handbook or health and safety policy, and define the period for a task’s completion, e.g. pre-start, first day, or first week. You can also assign tasks to various owners, e.g. manager or buddy.
You can create templates specific to teams, departments, locations, or roles.
From template to plan
Once you have finalised your onboarding template and added your new employee to MyHR (and they have self-service access), you can assign the template to them to create a draft onboarding plan. You will then finalise the assignment of roles, further customise the plan for an individual (if needed), and publish it.
MyHR will automatically notify new hires that their onboarding plan is available and they can begin completing tasks, including pre-start tasks to provide important information or documents, e.g. driver’s licence. You can also assign tasks to other people in your business to get your new hire set up for a successful start in the role, e.g. ordering IT equipment or a uniform.
Completing onboarding
The employee can view tasks via individual task reminders or in the onboarding plan in their profile.
All assigned tasks generate automatic reminders for the task owners, which will be visible through reminders in My Business for owners and managers, or a reminder in the employee’s profile.
If the employee needs any additional assistance with a task or anything comes to light during its completion, they can add comments. Owners, managers, and buddies will be able to see the comments or add comments of their own.
Once an employee finishes a task, they can mark it as complete and the manager can review it.
Once employees have finished the onboarding plan, the owner or manager can close the plan and automatically store all the information.
Tracking and reporting functionality
Our new onboarding reports give business owners or department managers easy visibility and tracking of employee onboarding tasks with the option of:
- Summary reports - a view of onboarding progress and task ownership across the business.
- Task reports - able to hone in on specific tasks, such as supplying assets, to see who has completed them or if more support is needed.
Owners and managers can edit the plan at any time if they need to add tasks or training activities.
We're sure our customers will find this new functionality makes hiring and onboarding employees even easier. We've got more exciting features and platform updates in the works, too.
